LE CIFOG : An Inter-branch association for the common good
The CIFOG (Comité National Interprofessionnel des Palmipèdes à Foie Gras), is a French association dedicated to the defence and promotion of fat palmiped products. Bringing together all the actors of the sector, it was recognised by the French public authorities in 1987. The CIFOG aims at - Carrying out actions beneficial to the whole sector, - Defending the products intended for human consumption, - Concluding inter-branch agreements to preserve the quality of the products, - Working towards a better understanding of the market and the consumers needs. Furhermore, the CIFOG aims at promoting foie gras and other fat palmiped products such as duck filets and confits. The CIFOG contributes to the funding of major common research programs relevant for the sector (animal welfare, improvement of foie gras producing and processing techniques, better knowledge of raw materials, protection of the environment) The CIFOG contributed to drafting the Charter on Foie Gras. This document definies the core ethical values of the industry in order to produce high-quality foie gras in compliance with the welfare of the farmed animals. CIFOG has also signed the European Charter on Breeding of Waterfowl for Foie Gras based on the 12 principles of the Welfare Quality Project. Its most recent initiative is the launch of Palmi G Confiance. Under this action, an independent body will certify that farmers comply with the European Charter on Breeding of WaterFowl for Foie Gras.” |

A new laboratory built in 2012 allows to implement the GMP (Good Manufacturing Practices) and GLP (Good Laboratory Practices) in compliance with the highest standards currently set out in Europe and America.
